There are three main seasons in Cambodia, the cool dry season from November to February, the hot dry season from April to May and the wet season from June to October. Some international residents joke that these three seasons are hot, hotter and hottest. In Siem Reap, cool season temperatures often hover around the high-20s, while in the hot season the mercury can regularly reach 40 degrees.

Peak season coincides with the cool dry season from November to February with Siem Reap at its most busy around International New Year and Chinese New Year in late-January or February. The wet season need not be a bad time to travel, as it rarely rains for more than one hour per day, usually in late-afternoon. The rainy season produces stunning landscapes of emerald green and epic cloud formations, including some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Discounts on leading hotels are also common, making it a good value time to travel. The cooler, breezy climes of November to January bring Mediterranean temperatures to Siem Reap and this can be a rewarding time to explore.
